Martha's Vineyard is probably best known for its beautiful natural landscapes. The island boasts almost 125 miles of seashore that invite year-round exploration. Residents and visitors alike enjoy dozens of beaches, each one with its own unique beauty. The diversity of our island is reflected in the varied landscapes of our beaches - you literally choose what kind of day you want by choosing what beach you go to. From relaxing at a quiet, nearly private Land Bank beach to joining the flocks of spirited sun-seekers at less isolated town beaches, visitors can create whatever beach experience they want. The beach and nature areas found on Martha's Vineyard offer unmatched natural scenery in any season.

While there are plenty of public beaches on Martha's Vineyard, some beaches are reserved during the summer for town residents, or seasonal visitors staying in that particular town. These beaches require parking or beach permits from the issuing town hall. These restrictions are strictly enforced during the summer season, but not so year-round.
