There is no shortage of things to do on Martha's Vineyard, if you don't mind being an inquiring mind. The island does takes some getting to know and entertainment - especially nightlife - isn't usually ready-made. Some folks might wonder what there is to do on the island. The truth is, there are plenty of things to do. What makes Martha's Vineyard special is that you can also just as easily NOT do anything - if that's what you want. Indeed, many visitors enjoy the island specifically because it is so removed from the normal commotion of life (everywhere else). | The Yard
The Yard is a performing artist's colony tucked between hills and meadows in Chilmark, on the island of Martha's Vineyard. The Yard was founded in 1973 by dancer and choreographer Patricia N. Nanon. Her vision was to create a space for contemporary dance artists to develop new works in a supportive environment.

| Vineyard Playhouse
The mission of the vineyard playhouse is to serve as a community-based professional theater dedicated to developing, producing and presenting exceptional live theater for adults and children on Martha's Vineyard; providing educational programs; and encouraging and supporting the work of theater artists of all ages, abilities and ethnic and social backgrounds. The theater operates all year long, producing a full schedule of main stage shows, play readings, educational programs, theater for young audiences, summer outdoor productions, a theater arts camp, a college intern program, special events, guest artist appearances, benefits and festivals.
